Target Market - Again!

Day Eighteen of How to Attract Clients and Grow a Thriving Private Practice in 40 Days: One woman’s personal journey of applying Manifestation and Marketing principles to re-building her private practice

By Kathryn Yarborough

Choosing your target market seems to be the most important step in creating a market plan because everything else falls into place once you've chosen.

Unfortunately for me, this seems to be my hardest step...

I’ve noticed over the past few days that I’ve been feeling confused about who my ideal target market is. So this morning I prayed about it and asked for Guidance to identify who this group is and how to best let them know about the Breath of Life Coaching sessions.

Yesterday I was reminded that Source delights when we do what gives us the most pleasure. And I "heard" that I should work with the people with whom I most enjoy working.

Well I love working with people who are on a conscious journey of healing, transformation, and conscious co-creation.

However, I also know that many other people can benefit from learning to breathe fuller and deeper… and that much suffering on this planet will decrease as we all breathe more fully and deeply and consciously.

After I prayed this morning I “heard” that I need to work with all types of people – that I need to focus first in Howard County, build my Breath of Life coaching practice to 25 clients a week and then expand down into Washington, DC.

I “heard” that I need to not focus on growing a multi-national professional development training organization (which is part of my BIG vision) and instead focus on getting the experience from working with 25 clients a week… and to affect the world this way for now.

I also “heard” that though I enjoy working with people who are already on a conscious healing, transformational, and awakening journey, my Higher Self is wanting me to develop by working with people at all levels of consciousness...

... including people who are dealing with stress, anxiety, and other health concerns.

I "got it" that the enjoyment aspect of my work can be at the level of my professional and personal development rather than by working with people whom I already feel comfortable.

I’m aware as well to work with this target market, there are things I need to learn.

I need to set up regular supervision, to learn more about breath and physiology, and learn more about “conditions” like anxiety disorder, asthma, and other breath related “conditions.”

So I think the focus with my practice is going to be to invite people to do 3 Breath of Life Coaching sessions to learn these practices: conscious breathing, diaphragmatic breathing, and mindful movement.

I think I’m being "asked" to work with a continuum of people... From people who want to learn how to breathe (and be in their body) because they're stressed to those who want to use breath and movement for their awakening.

I’m getting an inner confirmation of “Yes” as I write that. And I'm "hearing" that part of my development is to become flexible and responsive to whomever I’m with at the time and whatever he or she needs or wants on their life journey.

Okay… this feels great to me. Now that I have this clarity I can better plan my marketing strategy and implement it. Yahoo!

So my “30-second” marketing message is…

I teach people how to breathe deeply and be present in their body so that they can use breath and body awareness for relaxation, healing, or spiritual awakening if that’s important to them.
