Practical Marketing – How do I Integrate my Marketing Planning Process with my Heart Based Intention Practice?
Day Twenty-Nine of How to Attract Clients and Grow a Thriving Private Practice in 40 Days: One woman’s personal journey of applying Manifestation and Marketing principles to re-building her private practice
By Kathryn Yarborough I think I’m discovering a practical marketing approach in which I integrate my marketing planning process with my heart based intention practice. If you're interested read on as I explain my process. Let me share with you how I got there… First I asked myself… What do I have in place for marketing and what do I need to work on? I answered (I’m talking to myself again!)… I’m clear that my target market is people who are on a conscious journey with the following subgroups:- People who want to learn how to use breath and body awareness to decrease stress and anxiety, to be healthier, more aligned with their purpose, and more abundant
- Healing arts practitioners and conscious entrepreneurs who want to use manifestation and relationship focused marketing to grow their businesses
- Social workers, counselors, acupuncturists and other helping professionals who want to learn to use embodied consciousness skills and tools to help their clients
However, since the purpose of this process is to rebuild my private practice and attract Breath of Life coaching clients, I’m going to focus on the first subgroup here. What I’ve noticed over time is that most of my clients self select themselves. In other words, most of my clients find me or meet me somewhere and then decide to work with me – rather than because of a referral from another practitioner. However, it is great when someone refers clients to me. So while I don’t want to discount this, I’m going to focus my marketing on developing relationships with potential clients rather than with potential referral sources. Here’s where this new practical marketing planning approach got born… …I invited myself to describe my inner experience as I hold my intention that I’m attracting 1-3 new or returning clients this week who make appointments… I feel magnetic.I hear myself in conversations with people as they call me or talk to me at a networking meeting. I hear them choosing to make an appointment with me. I see the positive, life changing work they experience through their work with me. I’m not seeing people do a prescribed set of sessions with me. Instead, I’m imagining how the work actually flows... For example: - I suggest and facilitate experientials including breath awareness, breathwork, creative process, mindful movement and more.
- I mirror back what I hear them saying so they feel seen and gotten.
- I educate them about emotions.
- I normalize their experience and help them understand what’s happening as I understand it in the developmental and psychospiritual models I work with.
- I teach them how to use manifestation principles in their life and I help them clear blocks to allowing abundance.
I feel myself in service - caring for and helping others. So given that's how I feel when I'm using my intentions to activate the Law of Attraction, what do I need to do to market my services? What is practical marketing? I guess what I’m trying to distinguish in this practical marketing planning approach is the difference between how and what I think I should do to market my services and what my actual experience is when I attract clients easily and effortlessly. So if people come to me because they feel drawn to work with me – which I think is usually the case… …and they have something they want to work on with me… …and I’m doing client centered marketing… What happens? Well – folks hear about me or meet me. This could be – - At a networking meeting or event
- By reading an article I wrote
- A friend or colleague telling them about me
Then they have to get to know me and feel a connection with me. This could be – - By chatting at a networking meeting or event and feeling a connection
- By experiencing me at a presentation or workshop and feeling a connection
- By getting emails from me and feeling a connection
- By trying a session and feeling a connection
- By reading my facebook posts and feeling a connection
Once the connection is made, then... ...If they already know what my service is - then they decide to do it... ...Or I educate them about how my service can help them based on their situation and then they decide to do it. I think this is what marketers mean when they say we have to help our potential clients know, like and trust us. So… if this is the process, then practical marketing is what I do to facilitate it. And if I imagine each piece of this… then I can probably write out a plan that feels good or even great to me!!! Go from practical marketing to a list of manifestation and marketing topics from my journey of rebuilding my private practice.
