How to use Affirmations - Affirmation Playtime

Day Twelve of How to Attract Clients and Grow a Thriving Private Practice in 40 Days: One woman’s personal journey of applying Manifestation and Marketing principles to re-building her private practice

By Kathryn Yarborough

If you’re wondering how to use affirmations… affirmation playtime* is a great way to clear blocks and unstick any negative or blocked thinking you may have.

I’m looking forward to doing this today.

A lot of people think affirmations don’t work because they try them a few times and either nothing happens or the opposite happens.

What are affirmations?

Affirmations are present tense statements that usually include a feeling word. Like…

I am joyfully seeing 25 clients every week.

Affirmations powerfully call forth any conscious or unconscious thoughts or energies that are not in alignment with them. For example, after saying an affirmation some people get an automatic first thought like…

Yeah right – like that’ll be the day.

Affirmation playtime helps us work with these conscious and unconscious thoughts or energies by acknowledging them and then creating a new thought to counteract them. It feels a little like pulling weeds out of our mind each time we do it.

I often need to work with the same affirmation several times a week for a few months before I see any changes. So don’t give up after one time. Keep working it – things will change.

Update on my journey

I’ve started networking again. I’ve gone to 2 networking meetings this week.

One person registered for the Attracting Clients or Customers Workshop and another made a first Manifestation Coaching appointment. And I attracted a 3rd client this week by just having a random conversation with someone in the lobby of the center.

I think my goal of seeing 25 clients a week by October 1 is possible to achieve!

If you want to learn how to use affirmations…

The affirmation playtime exercise can sometimes be hard to understand how to do so if you're interested you’ll can read about it in detail in my upcoming e-book or learn about it in the Attracting Clients Workshop.

How to use affirmations with affirmation playtime

To summarize it, you write or say your affirmation, write or say your first thought (which may be negative or positive), then write or say a new thought that counters your negative thought. And you do this in first, second and third person.

Today, I’ve decided to do this with paper and pen (rather than on the computer) in my office. I’ll report back later what I noticed…

Later…

The affirmation I worked with is:

I joyfully and gratefully see 25 breath of life clients a week (supplemented by manifestation coaching, breath of life workshops, and professional development workshops).

I noticed that the blocks or concerns that arose had to do with…

  • Being concerned about not having enough time to get administrative and marketing work done
  • Being unsure if I can attract that many clients
  • Being concerned that if I’m focusing on marketing Breath of Life sessions I won’t know how or when I will market my professional development workshops and Manifestation Coaching sessions – and I want to get clear about this

I don’t feel like these blocks or concerns are resolved but I do feel like naming them helps them be less unconscious and so they don’t feel like they have as much power over me.
