Embodied Consciousness Process Tools
Kathryn Yarborough, MFA, BC-DTR Overview In Embodied Consciousness Process Tools, participants will learn how to use breath and body awareness as therapeutic interventions to assist clients in becoming more aware of their emotions and unresolved issues. We will discuss why and when to use breath or body awareness; the embodied experiences of the 7 primary emotions; and the process of working with and transforming a client’s body felt sensations associated with unresolved issues. Learning Objectives
- Participants will describe when and how to use breath, body awareness, or mindful movement in a therapeutic or healing process.
- Participants will define mindfulness.
- Participants will demonstrate facilitating, with a partner, another person’s use of breath or movement to deepen his or her self understanding.
- Participants will list the issues that might arise with mindful movement.
- Participants will list reasons to do mindful movement.
- Participants will describe how the 7 different primary emotions are experienced in the body.
After taking this workshop, participants will be able to: - Guide their clients in a simple process of using breath or body awareness to access emotions.
- Guide their clients in using mindful movement to help them integrate body, mind, and emotions.
Who can benefit from this workshop This workshop is for social workers, counselors, creative arts therapists, and other mental health professionals. Continuing Education Counselors – 6 clock hours The American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEPTM) and a co-sponsor of this event/program. ADTA may award NBCC-approved clock hours for events or programs that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP maintains responsibility for the content of this event. Facilitator Kathryn Yarborough, MFA, BC-DTR is a board certified dance/movement therapist, the creator of embodied manifestation coaching, and the founder and director of the Center for Embodied Consciousness in Columbia, Maryland. In her private practice, she has helped clients seeking healing or relief from depression, anxiety, body dissatisfaction, and unresolved trauma. She has provided individual coaching and group training on the use of mindfulness, manifestation, stress reduction, and wellness based skills.
